Ensembles
ISO offers a family of ensembles at various ability levels to serve young musicians ages 6 to 19. Placement in all ensembles is by audition. See the general descriptions below and follow the links from the ensemble names for more detailed information.
Advanced Ensemble
One of New York’s finest youth orchestras, the ISO Symphony is all-scholarship and regularly works with professional orchestra musicians. A concerto competition provides solo opportunities for members.
Advanced-Intermediate Ensemble
The Concert Orchestra challenges young players to expand their technical skills and knowledge of the repertory. A concerto competition gives up-and-coming talent a chance to shine.
Beginner-Intermediate Ensemble
The Carnegie Hill Orchestra engages young musicians in the pleasures of making music in a first-rate ensemble playing more challenging music.
