Matthew Goeke, cellist, peforms as soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player in a broad range of musical styles. His experience with contemporary music spans the SEM Ensemble, Cross Town Ensemble, North/South Consonance, the Kitchen House Blend and Glass Farm Ensemble. Matt is a member of the di.vi.sion piano trio, and the award winning flute,viola cello trio, Eight Strings and a Whistle, and is an active free-lasnce musician throughout the metropolitan area. Solo performances with orchestras around the New York area include many from the standard repertoire, including Shostakovitch, Dvorak, Brahms “Double”, Beethoven “Triple”, Lalo and Boccherini concertos, Shostakovitch Concerto No. 1. Recordings include releases on Innova, North/South Recordings and 4Tay, Inc., and he has also recorded for Opus One Records, Polygram, Elektra, Tzadik and Koch International Classics labels. In addition to his coaching the cello sections at the Morningside and Turtle Bay Orchestras, Matt is chamber music coach with the New York Youth Symphony’s Chamber Music Program, and is an Adjunct Lecturer a the Borough of Manhattan Community College, part of the City of University of New York.
