Megan Atchley is a New York based violinist dedicated to creating musical experiences that resonate with her audiences aesthetically, politically and bodily. She has performed a wide array of styles from classical to jazz in venues such as Lincoln Center, Miller Theater, Le Poisson Rouge and the Bowery Ballroom. A strong proponent of new music, she is a founder of trio Project Emme, a member of ensembles including The Firey String Sistas! and Ensemble Moto Perpetuo, and a guest with ensembles such as the Wordless Music Orchestra and Ensemble LPR. In addition to her active performing life, Megan is also a dedicated educator. She founded and directs an afterschool violin program at Girls Prep Middle School on the Lower East Side, and also maintains a private teaching studio with a wide range of ages and abilities. A passionate feminist, Megan presented a lecture recital at the 2011 Feminist Theory and Music Conference on the work of Kaija Saariaho.
