Scott Still is a former pupil of ISO, both the Symphonic Band and the Symphony Orchestra. Upon aging out, he became the coach of those groups, as well as a stint with Carnegie Hill. In 2006, he led the Symphonic Band percussion section in a performance of Carlos Chavez’s Toccata for percussion ensemble, where he conducted the group at Symphony Space.
As a freelance classical percussionist, Scott has performed with such groups as One World Symphony, New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, the Dicapo Opera, Staten Island Philharmonic, Greenwich Village Orchestra and Astoria Symphony Orchestra. He is also an avid lover of new music and has done many world premieres by living composers.
During the summers, Scott is head of percussion at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts. While there he overlooks all the groups as well as running and conducting the percussion ensemble. He plays over 12 musicals a summer, and combined with other freelance opportunities, Mr. Still has played well over 70 different musicals.
To help balance out his musical interests, Scott is in 2 rock bands and does as much recording for other groups and artists as possible.
