ISO Symphonic Band
Members of the ISO Symphonic Band at Third Street, led by conductor Paul Corn, explore the exciting world of band literature. This unique ensemble consists of advanced-intermediate and advanced-level wind, brass, and percussion players. In addition to many community concerts, the Band performs in New York City’s major concert halls. Membership is by audition. Good technical and sight-reading skills are required. Members of the Band may also play in an appropriate ISO orchestra and orchestra members may join the Band.
The ISO Symphonic Band performs two major concerts annually in venues such as Symphony Space, Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. It shared a triple bill in 2013 at Carnegie Hall, and in 2012 it performed there to a sold-out house along with ISO’s other orchestras.
An audition is required for membership. The Symphonic Band rehearses Tuesday evenings at Third Street Music School Settlement
