Placement auditions for CURRENT ISO MEMBERS for the 2019 – 2020 ISO Symphony season will take place on:
Sunday March 31st, 2019 from 10:00am – 12:00pm & 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Auditions will be held at the National Opera Center (330 7th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001) and there will be a warm up room provided.
We are excited to announce the planning of collaborations for the 2019 – 2020 season!
Next seasons major work will be Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88
Performances will be at Symphony Space, Long Island University, Brooklyn and Tribeca Performing Arts Center
Rehearsals will be from 5:00pm – 7:30pm – Location TBD
Petko Dimitrov will continue as the conductor for the 2019 – 2020 season
There is a formal dress code for auditions. NO sneakers, jeans, t-shirts, or similar.

String Scale Requirements:
Students will play two of the four scales shown below:
- One (1) chosen by the jury
- One (1) of their choice.
- Scales are to be memorized, performed ascending and descending at a moderate tempo, one quarter note per pitch.
Violin: Three (3) octaves scales: A major; B-flat major; C melodic minor; D major
Viola: Three (3) octaves scales: C major; E-flat major; G melodic minor; F melodic minor
Cello: Three (3) octaves sales: F major; D major; G major; A major
Bass: Two (2) octaves scales: E major; F major; G major; A major
Wind Scale Requirements:
Scales are to be performed articulated:
- NOT slurred
- Moderate Tempo
Flute: 3 octave chromatic scale: C – C
Oboe: 2 1/2 octave chromatic scale: low Bb – F
Clarinet: 3 octave chromatic scale: low E – High E
Bassoon: 2 1/2 octave chromatic scale: low C – G
Horns: 2 octave chromatic scale: pedal C to the third space C
Trumpet: 2 octave chromatic scale: low G – G
Trombone: 2 octave chromatic scale: low F – F
Tuba: 2 octave chromatic scale: low F – F
